Anthony Donzella is a forensic accountant based in the New York City office.
He is responsible for providing clients with forensic accounting, contractual compliance consulting, dispute advisory, financial reporting and forecasting, and other litigation support services. Examples of Mr. Donzella’s recent litigation and forensic accounting experience include: managing the reconstruction of accounting transactions over a 10-year period, pursuant to a court order; conducting an investigation regarding whistleblower allegations pertaining to a company’s policies for revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and accounts payable; serving as a consulting expert for the calculation of a purchase price adjustment in a dispute between the buyer and seller of a $30 million interest in a real estate investment management company; managing a vendor disbursement and employee expense reimbursement review for a mid-size investment bank and providing a written report of results/findings to management; and working on multiple matters involving the calculation of damages and lost profits.
Additionally, among his current assignments, Mr. Donzella has been retained on a recurring basis by two major professional sports league players’ associations to assess compliance by various parties with the terms of their respective collective bargaining agreement. He has also received necessary U.S. Government security clearance in order to serve as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Fraud Section on various forensic accounting matters.
Prior to joining Renaissance Associates, Mr. Donzella’s experience includes 11 years in public accounting. Mr. Donzella began his career at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he spent three years conducting audits of year-end financial statements and performing reviews of quarterly financial information, in accordance with SEC requirements and US GAAP, across a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and telecommunications.
Mr. Donzella then spent four years at the national accounting firm, Rothstein Kass, where he performed audits, reviews, and compilations for middle-market, private companies with $50-500 million in revenues, across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, broker-dealers, private equity, and commercial services. In addition, during his tenure at Rothstein Kass, Mr. Donzella was a member of the Financial Advisory Services practice, where he provided litigation and forensic accounting services to clients across industries.
Most recently, Mr. Donzella spent four years at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (“PCAOB”), where he performed inspections of public accounting firms and the audits of SEC-registered companies to ensure that audits were conducted in accordance with professional accounting standards and annual reports were filed in compliance with SEC regulatory requirements, in order to protect and promote the interests of investors.
Mr. Donzella is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. in Finance from Rutgers University.
